Inside the mind of a remorseless killer
Kendall Francois exchanged letters with Poughkeepsie resident, Kristina Sharpe. They recount the daily life and private reflections of one of the most notorious criminals in Dutchess County history as he neared the end of his life.
They were presented to the Journal by their original recipient, 33 year old City of Poughkeepsie resident Kristina Sharpe, days after she learned of Francois death last month.
Between 1996 and 1998, Francois murdered eight women, many of whom had histories of either prostitution or drug use. He stored their remains in his Town of Poughkeepsie home. The disappearance of the women stoked fear in the community and prompted the creation of a special investigative commission.
