i have a 2001 pontiac grand prix 3
i have a 2001 pontiac grand prix 3.8 liter. I m having a problem with it idling correctly. wpatagonia argentina land for sale2hen i first start, it idles a little more than 1000 but when the engine warms a little and i give it gas, when i let up it idles at 1500 to 2000 rpm. as soon as i turn the engine off and then back on, the idle will drop back to around 1000 but as soon as i give it gas it gets stuck high again. i took the idle air control motor off and it appears to work (the spindle is at different places when it has different idles).
Hello,I will be glad to try and assist you with this,Welcome to Just Answer.
I hope this information helped,if you need anything else let me know,if you feel satisfied that I have assisted please click the accept answer button as this is how I get paid, positive feedback is appreciated,Thanks Pete.
i checked the two hoses you mentioned, and can see no evidence of vacuum leak. i also checked the plenpatagonia a better sweaterum and it doesn appear warped or leaking in any way. let me give some more details from running it just now. when i first started, it idled at 1100. i let it idle for 10 minutes occasionally pushing the pedal and it still idled at 1000. I then took it down the road and within a quarter mile, it was idling at 1500. hopatagonia better sweater womens jacketwever as soon as i turn it off and back on, it returns to 1100. i restarted and slowly pushed the pedal down (while parked) to an rpm of 3000 and then released. it returned to an idle of 1100. but as soon as i quickly push the pedal, the idle sticks at 1500. i can quickly push and release so it doesn even get above 2000 and it will stick but if i slowly push it past 3000, the idle doesn stick. The more copatagonia down sweater toddler reviewmplicated the concern, the more intense tools one will need. At this point in your driveability issue, I would sense you have a sensor, a control circuit, a wiring, or a mechpatagonia argentina land for sale3anical issue. You need the tools to decipher exactly what is going on here. Technology is such today that it takes more than just a pair of pliers and some common sense to repair engine driveability issues. It is NOT as simple as just asking one of us which part to replace and your problems are over. It could any one of several failures. You could part dart it to death and still not come up with an answer. It will only cost you a lot of money, you will become discourage with the vehicle. I have seen some really strange driveability issues reported, like start and stall. Extreme surging in the morning. The engine running rough and black smoke. You might suspect all sorpatagonia argentina land for salets of failures, but all it required was cleaning the throttle bpatagonia argentina land for sale1ody. With the electric throttle control that out there now, it is extremely important to keep thpatagonia down sweater care instructionse throttle plate clean of the coke build up. And of course it goes the other way with simple, intermittent, nuisance complaints, that end up requiring the replacement of 1500.00 dollar computers. There is no simple answer to your concern. You have taken a lot to time and great care in explaining your issue. I suggest to you that you need to obtain a scanner that is capable of reading data, and capable of performing output commands. You also need a DVOM (Digital Volt Ohm Meter) You will need to check resistances on circuits. You should have a 12 volt test light. And then you need charts and diagnostic info. for knowing how to proceed in a constructive manner to thoroughly diagnose your problem. I can help you with flow charts and all the diagnostics you want, but we need a place to start.
Not really at this point. Diagnostics start with codes and data read on the scanner. You haven mentioned any codes stored, but that doesn always mean there isn a problem with a sensor, wiring, or control circuit. Same holds true when there IS a code. It doesn always automatically mean if you have an oxygen sensor code, that the oxygen sensor is bad. The codes ALWAYS just mean there is an issue with in that circuit. Below I have included the diagnostics for your IAC control system. The Idle Air Control Circuit. Look it over and you see what I mean about having the proper tools to diagnose. This will at lepatagonia arizona ranch for saleast give you an idea what to look for and see if you can find anything based on what tools and knowledge you have. Don bother clicking on any of the patagonia argentina land for sale0 Blue Hyper Links . You will go no where. They are for my reference. Idle Air Control (IAC) System Diagnosis Circuit Description The idle air control (IAC) valve is located in the throttle body of both throttle body fuel injection (TBI) and multiport fuel injection (MFI) systems. It consists of a movable pintle, driven by a gear attached to an electric motpatagonia discount code shutterflyor called a stepper motor.
The IAC valve motor is a two phase bi polar permanent magnet stepper motor that is capable of highly accurate rotation, or movement, every time the polarity of a winding is changed. This change in polarity can be seen when observing apatagonia everlong review of related test lpatagonia everlong review journal obituariesamp connected between ground or B+ and an IAC valve circuit while the powertrain control module (PCM) is attempting to change engine RPM.
The test lamp will flash ON or OFF each time the polarity is changed. The PCM does not use a physical sensor to determine IAC pintle position, but uses a predicted number of counts. One count represents one change in polarity which equals one step of the stepper motor. The PCM counts the steps it has commanded to determine IAC pintle position. The PCM uses the IAC valve to control engine idle speed. It does this by changing the pintle position in the idle air passage of the throttle body.
This varies the air flow around the throttle plate when the throttle is closed. To determine the desired position of the IAC pintle at idle or during deceleration, the PCM refers to the following inputs:
The engine RPM The battery voltage The air temperature The engine coolant temperature (ECT) The throttle position (TP) sensor angle The engine load The vehicle speed When the ignition key is turned OFF, after an ignition cycle, the PCM will first seat the IAC pintle in the air bypass bore and then retract it a predetermined amount of counts to allow the proper amount of air to bypass the throttle plate for engine start up. Proper operation and installation of all air intake components Proper installation and operation of the mass air flow (MAF) sensor (if equipped) A tampered with or damaged throttle stop screw A tampered with or damaged throttle plate, throttle shaft, throttle linkage or cruise control linkage (if equipped) Excessive deposits in the IAC passage or onpatagonia guide pants quiz the IAC pintle Excessive deposits in the throttle bore or on the throttle plate Vacuum leaks A high or unstable idle condition could be caused by a non IAC system condition that can not be overcome by the IAC valve. A low or unstable idle condition could be caused by a non IAC system condition that can not be overcome by the IAC valve. If the condition is determined to be intermittent, refer to Intermittent Conditions in Symptoms. Test DescriptionThe numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
