It s a crazy scenario, but hardly far fetched.
Mike Tannenbaum hired Rex Ryan as the Jets coach in 2009.
Tannenbaum was fired as the Jets GM after the 2012 season and was replaced by John Idzik.
Tannenbaum is now an agent for coaches and broadcasters.
If Idzik fires Ryan after this season, sources say his No. 1 candidate to be the Jets coach is Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, a former Jets assistant under Eric Mangini.
Quinn hired a new agent over the summer. His name is Mike Tannenbaum.
If Idzik fires Ryan and wants to hire Quinn, then Tannenbaum will patagonia store vancouverbe negotiating the contract with Idzik, who now sits in Tannenbaum s old office.

Okay, I know, this can only happen with the Jets. The negotiation could be a bit awkward, but, hey, it s business. Tannenbaum is working hard to make a name for himself in his new job. Idzik spent 2007 12 in the Seahawks front office and sources say he is very good friends with Quinn from the two seasons they spent together. Ryan has missed the playoffs three years in a row and the feeling is he can t survive if he misses the postseason for a fourth straight year. Eventually, all GMs want their own coach. Even so, Idzik and Ryan have developed a very good relationship and Idzik and Woody Johnson gave Ryan an extension after last year s surprising 8 8 season. But the guaranteed money runs out after the 2015 season. Standard procedure in the NFL is to either extend or fire a coach when he has one year remaining on his deal. The last 13 games of the season will determine Ryan s Jets future. Johnson is very fond of Ryan and certainly doesn t want to be hiring his fifth coach since he bought the team in 2000. NFL vice president Troy Vincent was once the president of the NFLPA. Mark Murphy, the president and CEO of the Packers, was Washington s player rep and part of the union s negotiating committee during the 57 day strike in 1982.
Tannenbaum and Idzik negotiating for the hottest head coaching candidate in the NFL would be very intriguing.
