Jeff Bridges is an Oscar winning actor and singer who lives in Santa Barbara. To film buffs he Bad Blake from Heart or Rooster Cogburn from the Grit remake, but he be forever known for playing Jeff Lebowski aka The Dude in the Coen Brothers 1998 cult classic, Big Lebowksi. Sunday, Nov. 2, at The Canyon, 28912 Roadside Drive, Agoura Hills. Tickets are $48, $68 or $78.
The Dude is a direct descendant of fellow slacker kings Maynard G. Krebs and Jeff Spicoli. Krebs was into jazz, Spicoli was into surfing and Lebowski was into bowling, toking, guzzling White Russians and, pretty much, abiding.
Still fairly dude like, Bridges and his band, the Abiders, will be at The Canyon in Agoura Hills on Sunday night to do the remembering thing and that country rock thing. They certain to play a few off the just released album and, best of all, it won cost a hundred bucks to watch.

Bridges is not an actor who played a musician and then became one. Writing songs since he was in high school, Bridges has always been a musician, and he can sing. He met a bunch of rock stars such as T Bone Burnett and Stephen Bruton on the set of Gate, thanks to the film star, Kris Kristofferson. He finally got around to releasing his first album, Here Soon in 2000 anpatagonia freeport maine directions1d then Bridges in 2011 with a Heart soundtrack in between.
All shook up by the Northridge quake 20 years ago, Bridges headed north to Santa Barbara. He met a guy named Chris Pelonis, who is not just a master guitar player but a guy who builds recording studios; Disney and Bridges are a few of his many customers. So how the music biz?
Well, the music is pretty good. I been touring with my band, the Abiders, and we got this live album out and we got several gigs lined up.

I campatagonia freeport maine directions2e up here about 20 years ago because of that earthquake the Northridge earthquake and landed here in Santa Barbara. I was looking to set up a recording studio and I ran into Chripatagonia freeport maine directions0s Pelonis, who turned out to be a world class builder of studios and a wonderful guitarist. patagonia jackets new york cityWe became friends and made an album and formed a record label with Michael McDonald and put out an album called Here Soon. And, you know, this was quite a bit before Heart took off. After Heart happened, I put another album out with T Bone Burnett and I thought, I ever gonna get this music thing rollin then now a good time. So I asked my buddy Pelonis to corral some of the top players in Santa Barbara. He brought the cream of the crop to the first audition and they were all so great that we didn have to go through any audition process. We just went with those guys and they were the best, you know?

Where does the new one fit into your steadily growing body of work?
Well, it a live thing, which sets it quite apart. There some new tunes on there and there also some tunes from Heart and a couple of tunes that were done before. But, basically, it a live thing, you know? Besides the new tunes, I do some tunes that my buddy Johnny Goodwin wrote. It always great to do his songs.
How did you go about choosing some of the cover songs like the Byrds You Want to Be a Rock Roll Star a huge fan of the Byrds and I remember hearing that song back in high school the Summer of Love in David Crosby lives up here and we been friends for quite a few years, so that song is sort of a natural cover. We don sing that song with him on the album but we sung it with him before.
When you play live, instead of drunks shouting Bird!, do they shout or yeah. I get a lot of Dude action.
That film is so iconic.patagonia everlong review game There House and Horror, Is Spinal Tap and Big Lebowski. Those are rare movies that have somehow entered our collective consciousness.
Yeah, that really a great movie and the Coen Brothers really know how to do it so well. One of the high points of my music career is when I get to perform at the Lebowski Fest.

Back when I was a kid, I wasn sure I wanted to get into the acting. I didn know if I wanted to go into my father line of work. There one called and Get Me, which was also called of Fury,. That was a great movie. It was kind of a film noir thing. He was in Noon and that was cool.
He had a great role in that one. He was about the only guy in town willing to help Gary Cooper against the Miller gang.
And also as a kid, I remember that he was really into music and that led him to musicals. He did and Dolls and he replaced Richard Kiley on Broadway in of La Mancha. did not know that. He also in one of the greatest war movies of all time, Walk in the Sun. He the farmer that misses his apple trees.
