Monday, Oct. 13, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.James Adams Obrecht was born on Nov. 7, 1935, to Martin Otto and Ethel Mae (Adams) Obrecht in a farmhouse near Kirkman. He graduated from Ames High School with the class of 1955. Jim married Mary Lenox in Septembepatagonia men's better sweater quarter zip pulloverr 1patagonia better sweater raw linen958. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1960. After graduation, Jim worked at Walter Rexall Drug in downtown Ames. Jim and his stepfather, Phil Walter, opened North Grand Rexall Drug, near what is now North Grand Mall. In 1978, Jim established a pharmacy in Huxleypatagonia better sweater raw linen2 called Ballard Drug. He retired after working for Hy Vee in Ames and Boone.Jim and Judirae (Hendricks) Harris were married on Nov. 9, 1985. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames, where he had served on the board. (Sandra) Obrecht Jr., of Perry, Fla., and Michael R. (Julie) Obrecht and their children, Kelsey and Alison, of Hudsonville, Mich.; one daughter, Jennifer L. (Dongsheng) Zhai, of Fort Dodge; two step daughters, Wendi L. Harris (Stuart Oxer) and their children, Grant and Elizabeth, of Ankeny, and Susan E. (Kevin) Marschke and their children, Harris, Ean and Rachel Deno, of St. Paul, Minn.; one brother, Deapatagonia better sweater raw linen3n (Dianne) Obrecht, of Ames; numerous nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Mary Obrecht, of Deland, Fla.He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepfather, Phillip Walter.Jim was a gentleman and a gentle man. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
