J Alexander s
Diner from Florida
I went to J Alexander s with a friend. The menu was limited. We ordered the smoked salmon dip which was more like a salmon salad with too much mayo. I ordered crab cakes and a side of beefsteak tomatoes. Both were too salty. My friend had a burger and shoestring fries. After dinner, we both ordered coffee. She ordered hers with cream, I ordered mine with a shot of Bailey s Irish Cream. First, they brought out the coffee with the Baileypatagonia women better s mixed in. It looked like a vanilla milk shake! When I complained, tpatagonia better sweater gloveshey brought a glass coffee mug with the Bailey s already in it, expecting me to pour the coffee into the Bailey s. Finally, they brought a separate coffee mug so I could pour the Bailey s into the coffee. In addition, the service was terrible. I asked twice for a straw to drink the water and twice for lemon for my crab cakes. To add insult to injury, it was expensive! So, if you like overpriced, over salted food and bad service, this restaurant is for you!
Diner from Atlanta
Went here a week ago for dinner wipatagonia discount code wizard2th a friend to talk business and catch up. I had the Prime Rib and subbed the potato for the broccoli. It s about the same price wise as Houston s, although I do like the atmosphere a lot better. Has a more accessible and friendly vibe to it, even though it s nearly identical, but that is a great quality to have. Being more comfortable tends to heighten the experience. I also had the soup of the day which was a chicken tortilla soup. Since I m on a no starch and sugar diet, I asked for it to be made without the the tortilla in it. It was very tasty, the cheese on top was crucial, but the chicken meat was lacking significantly. As in to the point where I would consider it a bit of a misrepresentation, however it was tasty. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly medium. Here I can tell that they err on the side of rare, so as not to send a dry steak which is good. If you order medium here it will be closer to medium rare than true medium, which is for the most part right where you want most quality cuts. It was good and the au jus was nice. It did not come with horseradish, nor was it offered or did I think about it, but it would be nice to add to the experience. The broccoli was great. It was season just right, not too salty, with a hit of black pepper and finished with Parmesan cheese. I actually considered ordering more of the broccoli it was so good. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Our waitress was sweet and actually didn t charge us for the soups we ordered, so we left here a nice hefty tip. It s a bit out of my way, considering Houston s is right up the road from me, but I feel like I would rather come here to eat, and the menu is just a bit more expansive and intriguing than Houston s. This is a solid place to have dinner. I have been away from UrbSpo so long I forgot to take pictures before I dove into the meal lol, next time!

Diner from Atlanta
I have been disappointed with my last 3 visitspatagonia store locator to J. Alexanders in Dunwoody. Althpatagonia backpacks reviewough the food is great, everything is rushed out to you. You don t have time to enjoy your food because as soon as you start your appetizer, your entree is coming to the table. I even asked our waitress to slow down the pace of our items coming out but it didn t work. It was obvious that they are trying to turn over tables fast. I don t recommend people eating there on a Friday night if want to have time to enjoy and savor your food.

J Alexander s attempts to emulate Houston s, who it replaced when that restaurant was closed. In some regards they come close, but it s really not the same. Their lunch menu is a tad light on offerings, though I noted today a few new items. I used to really enjoy their steak and fries, when it really was a French market steak. It was the perfect size for a luncheon steak. But they changed it and now it is a New York strip, which is not my favorite steak. I ve never had a good piece of fish here. Usually it is smelly and has the taste and texture of frozen. They, too, cannot seem to get a hamburger right. The patty is too thick and the fat content too low. When one combines patagonia better sweater 360this with a bun that is too thick, patagonia discount code wizard3it makes patagonia adze jacket reviewsfor a dry, messy, tasteless burger that is very hard to eat. It does t help that they put some hickory smoke on it, which is not really a good taste for a hamburger. Houston s has what is probably the best salad in town and J Alexander s original attempt to match it seems to have been abandoned. Their salad, while edible, is hardly worth $9.
The service is what one would expect from a business class restaurant. the staff is friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. Unlike others, I do not want for someone to bring me something more to drink without first asking and they don t ask; they just show up and plop it down. I left an patagonia discount code wizardentire glass of tea untouched on the table today because I still had half a glass and was almost finished with my meal. This is wasteful and really can t be called good service. Their presentation of food piling everything up on the plate like a sculpture of tpatagonia discount code wizard0he Andes may be hip, but it borders on ridiculous. And leaving the skins on mashed potatoes (and calling them smashed ) may seem all posh, but it ispatagonia everlong review kimber no way to serve them. If they don t have the time to peel the potatoes they simply shouldn t offer them, instead of passing them off as something different.
Finally, there s the prices. I know they are in Perimeter Center and there s a lot of business people buying lunch on an expense account, but $40 (w/tip) for two sandwiches and two classes of tea is outrageous. All and all, J Alexander s is a fairly good, consistent restaurant, but they simply are not worth the price.

Diner from Myrtle Beach
The service is as good as advertised. Our server was freindly, attentive, andpatagonia discount code wizard1 personable without being obtrusive. The food was fantastic and the portions were large and filling (especially for the price). The prime rib was great, the cilantro shrimp even better. My wife and I ate wonderfully for approxamatly the same cost as Outback (but with much better service, quality, and portions)! Nothing to be disapointed about.

I don t live in the area, but I love Houston s. I went to visit my nearest Houston s Restaurant to discover that it was no longer there. I went inside anyway and decided to stay.
The menu was very similar to Houston s but the feel of the restaurant was a bit friendlier. My girlfriend and I tried the calamari for an appetizer and it was terrific, probably the best I ve had in the city. Our server was very friendly but professional. I was surprised that the service here was just as good as Houston s. I had the prime rib and my g/f had the babyback ribs, both were great. The portions were large and the server boxed our food up for us which I thought was nice. We didn t have room for desert but I saw one walk by us and it was huge. My g/f had a Pomegranate Martini thatpatagonia hiking shoes closeout was very tasty. Overall I would give it a 9.9 out of 10, I loved evrything about this place. It was obvious they are a knockoff of Houston s but a better version that Brookwood or Arizona or other knockoffs I ve seen.
